Breaking the Cycle of Addiction
Through Connection & Community
A Little Help is a fast-paced card game with a twist:
You’ll need to cooperate to find help for yourself and those around you by learning more and sharing coping mechanisms, support resources, and habit-building activities. The first player to help five others and find supports they can use to advance their intentional goals wins. But watch out! If you let too many problems go unaddressed, everybody loses!
About the Game
Stephen Gilman, an 82nd Airborne veteran, created the game, “A Little Help”, as an art project during his participation in the VA Manhattan art therapy program led by Casey Faulkner. Each card in the game features unique original art. This art submission is the back-of-the-cardbox artwork that will be featured on the game when it’s released and freely available on Creative Commons in 2025. The game was recently entered into the Veterans Administration National Veterans Creative Arts Competition. This art and this game is dedicated to our veterans, their families, and the Veterans Administration professionals who support them.
Stephen and his son, Ben, have enjoyed playing games and designing games together and have playtest the game many times with Stephen’s partner, Michele, their family, friends, and game design community. Thank you to all those who helped playtest and give feedback on A Little Help!
